Natural Pool Conversion Alternative – Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide & Sydney CBD

Love the idea of a natural pool without the cost and complexity?

Traditional natural pool conversions can require extensive excavation, wetlands, plant filtration zones and significant ongoing maintenance. For many Australian homeowners, the cost of converting an existing swimming pool into a natural pool can exceed $50,000.

Tankless offers an innovative alternative.

Our engineered underground aquifer technology transforms underutilised swimming pools into sustainable, trafficable outdoor spaces while retaining the flexibility to restore the pool in the future if required.

Whether you’re in Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide or Sydney CBD, Tankless delivers many of the environmental and lifestyle benefits people seek from natural pools—without the enormous expense.

Why homeowners are choosing Tankless instead of a natural pool conversion

Lower conversion costs

Natural swimming pool conversions often involve major landscaping, filtration ponds and extensive construction works. Tankless provides a practical, cost-effective alternative.

Create usable outdoor space

Unlike traditional pools, Tankless systems are trafficable, allowing homeowners to reclaim valuable backyard space for entertaining, gardens, play areas or outdoor living.

Sustainable water management

Our engineered aquifer system captures and stores water underground, helping homeowners reduce water waste and improve sustainability.

Reversible design

One of Tankless’ greatest advantages is flexibility. Should a future owner wish to reinstate the swimming pool, the system can be reversed, preserving the long-term value and options for the property.

Minimal disruption

Because the existing pool shell remains in place, installation is faster and far less disruptive than many natural pool conversion projects.

A smarter alternative to traditional natural pools

Tankless delivers these outcomes through practical Australian engineering designed specifically for urban homes.

Tankless fills & solves the void in the ground with the absolute far & away least disturbance to your property with a permanent solution & removes drainage issues all in one cost effective process. Even with limited access to your pool.

Why Converting Your Pool into a Water Tank is far better than a Concrete Lid

If you’re considering repurposing your pool and undertaking pool removal, converting it into a  Tankless® is a far better option than putting a concrete lid or structure over your old pool that requires supporting engineering reports for safety concerns submitted to council or risk having to remove it. It also raises the finished height & it’s difficult to grow something on concrete pad. The pump will fail quickly as all the sediment & debris is drawn to the pump. Tankless® overcomes this with a proven baffled design & filtration system.

This allows you to transform your old pool into a functional water storage system while keeping the finished height of your new landscape level with the existing coping. The system is classed as non structural that will last indefinitely with the option to easily remove for the next Generation protecting your asset.

Not only is it more cost-effective than installing a concrete lid, but it also provides a variety of options for the new space, such as a lawn, garden, vegetable patch, or even a pond.

We can set the finished water storage level based on how you plan to use the space, such as adding 200mm of topsoil or crushed rock for paving or decking, or 400mm of topsoil for a vegetable garden.

Additionally, Tankless’ pervious top allows excess water from irrigation to filter back into the system, promoting sustainable water use and reducing water waste.

Tankless Pool Conversion Features

Transform Your Pool into a Water Storage Unit with Ease

Don’t let the thought of pool removal discourage you from repurposing your old pool. With Tankless, our team of experts is equipped with years of experience in the industry, ensuring a hassle-free and affordable process for transforming your pool into a reliable water storage unit.
The unit is compacted as we back fill with the rock screenings that forms pillars of strength right to the floor from the top to provide excellent load bearing qualities. We have two independent engineer reports available that you can forward to council if they require additional information.

We use a durable liner to cover the entire swimming area, providing protection against seepage and damage to the pool structure. Our system also features a unique pervious top membrane, enabling you to claim rainwater and surface water, and recycle excess irrigation.

To ensure maximum filtration, we’ve built a storm water filter into the system, which eliminates debris and insects while adding extra filtration with rock screenings.

Moreover, our water storage combined with irrigation has a cooling effect on your property during summer, reducing rising heat in your neighborhood. Extensive study by experts in urban landscape design directed by Western Sydney University ‘Cooling the Commons’ features Tankless as way of collecting quality roof & surface water for irrigation in the pattern deck web site.

What others have to say…

Recently we had the pleasure of helping Jenni convert her rarely used pool to a 30,000 litre water storage with a vegetable garden.

Here’s what she had to say:

” The whole experience of converting our rarely used swimming pool into a rainwater tank and large vegetable garden with Tankless has been fantastic. Darren assisted in my application to Plan SA for the conversion to be done in Adelaide and provided all the technical information to make the planning and development applications run smoothly and efficiently. He then traveled over to South Australia for the installation including transporting the agricultural pipe in a huge truck as there were supply issues with the product in SA. Darren and Thomas worked incredibly hard over the 3 days of installation and were informative about the process, polite and neat – all I could have asked for 1 I would highly recommend Tankless to anyone considering making their home and garden more sustainable.”

FAQ

All Tankless installations have an overflow pipe that connects to the storm water that flows out to the point of discharge.

The perforated coils are surrounded by pillars of rock to provide weight, load bearing stability & is compacted as the void is filled.

Tankless offers a complete pool conversion process, starting with core drilling for the storm water inlet, outlet and irrigation.

We then install a multi liner system, a unique pervious top membrane, and a stormwater filter for maximum filtration. Our seamless installation hides all pipes underground.

The pool remains intact. Tankless coils mold to the shape of any existing pool contours.

We recommend easy access seasonal cleaning of the filter to maximize your water collection & to keep it in top condition. This will reward you with a quality & reliable source of water for many years to come.

No, all pipes are hidden underground for a seamless installation. The submersible pump is out of sight, operates silently, and has an access lid should it require servicing.

The filter is designed to separate sediment & debris, it is recommended to clean seasonally.
